portraiture

in Clerkenwell

Hello — and thanks for scanning the card.

My name is Niklas and I’m currently in the early stages of building stillgrain.studio, a long-term portrait project based in Clerkenwell focused around photographing people in a simple, thoughtful and honest way.

If I approached you in the street, a café or a pub, it was most likely because there was something about your presence, expression or style that felt genuinely interesting and photographable to me. Often it’s difficult to explain exactly why — sometimes somebody simply has a face or energy that stays with you.

I’m currently building the project and initial portfolio collaboratively with people I meet across London and am looking for individuals who’d enjoy being part of that process.

The sessions themselves are relaxed and low-pressure, usually photographed using natural light or minimal studio lighting across both digital and film formats. I’m particularly interested in portraits that feel timeless, calm and human rather than overly polished or performative.

No modelling experience is needed, and you’re very welcome to bring a friend along to the session if that makes you feel more comfortable.

At the moment I’m offering portrait sessions on a collaborative basis, including a small contribution towards time and travel (£50), along with 4-5 edited portraits following the session.

If it sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to get in touch below.

Best

Niklas
